Mogito Open Access Journal of Oncology and Cancer Studies (MJOCS)

At the Mogito Open Access Journal of Oncology and Cancer Studies (MJOCS), we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and academic integrity in cancer research publishing. This policy outlines the ethical obligations of authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher to maintain the credibility and reliability of all published work.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Originality & Plagiarism

All submitted manuscripts must be original and properly referenced. MJOCS employs plagiarism detection tools to verify the authenticity of content. Plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate action.

Authorship Criteria

Authorship is limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual or practical contributions to the research—such as study design, clinical investigation, data interpretation, or manuscript drafting. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.

Data Accuracy & Transparency

Authors are responsible for presenting accurate, complete, and reproducible data. Falsification or fabrication of results will lead to immediate rejection, potential retraction, and further investigation. Authors may be asked to submit original datasets during peer review.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

All authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the submitted work. Full transparency is expected upon submission.

Ethical Approval & Consent

All studies involving human subjects, clinical data, or biological specimens must include documentation of ethical approval from a recognized ethics committee or institutional review board. Informed consent must be obtained and clearly stated for all participants.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

Editorial Independence

Editors make decisions based solely on academic quality, clinical relevance, and originality. MJOCS ensures that editorial processes remain free from commercial, political, or institutional bias.

Fair & Timely Peer Review

All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Editors ensure timely, respectful, and unbiased evaluations, regardless of authors’ background or affiliations.

Confidentiality

Editors must maintain strict confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and may not disclose or use any part of the manuscript before publication without permission.

Managing Conflicts

Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling submissions where impartiality is compromised. Such manuscripts will be reassigned to an unbiased editor.

3. Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

Objective Review

Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, fair, and objective feedback based on scientific merit and relevance to oncology. Personal opinions and inappropriate language are unacceptable.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers are strictly prohibited from sharing or using unpublished material for personal or professional advantage.

Disclosure of Conflicts

Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could bias their assessment and decline to review if they cannot remain impartial.

4. Publisher Responsibilities

MJOCS is published by Mogito Open Access Journals, which fully adheres to the standards and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The publisher is committed to:

  • Upholding editorial and academic independence

  • Supporting global access to high-quality cancer research

  • Promoting transparency in data and authorship

  • Investigating and addressing any instances of publishing misconduct

5. Handling Research Misconduct

MJOCS investigates all allegations of misconduct, including:

  • Plagiarism or duplicate publication

  • Data manipulation or fabrication

  • Unethical research involving human or animal subjects

  • Authorship disputes

Once a concern is raised, MJOCS will conduct a confidential inquiry, request supporting documentation, and may notify relevant institutions. Confirmed misconduct will lead to corrective actions, including rejection, retraction, or formal notice of concern.

6. Retraction & Correction Policy

To maintain the credibility of cancer literature, MJOCS applies the following correction mechanisms:

  • Erratum – For minor errors that do not alter study conclusions

  • Corrigendum – For author-reported corrections

  • Retraction – For confirmed cases of ethical breaches or critical flaws in the study

All corrections are transparently labeled and linked to the original publication for traceability.

Commitment to Integrity

At MJOCS, we believe ethical publishing is essential to the advancement of cancer science and compassionate patient care. We encourage all contributors—authors, reviewers, editors, and readers—to uphold these principles at every stage of the publication process.
