Mogito Open Access Journal of Advanced Surgery and Operative Care (MJASOC)

1. Scope of Content

MJASOC publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed content that advances the science, innovation, and practice of advanced surgery and operative care across all surgical disciplines. The journal accepts:

  • Original research articles

  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses

  • Technical notes and surgical innovations

  • Clinical trials and operative outcome studies

  • Case reports and surgical case series

  • Editorials, perspectives, and correspondence

MJASOC welcomes submissions addressing:

  • Novel surgical procedures and techniques

  • Operative safety, perioperative care, and recovery

  • Surgical instrumentation and robotics

  • Emergency and trauma surgery

  • Oncologic, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, and transplant surgery

  • Surgical education, training, and simulation

  • Ethics, policy, and patient outcomes in surgical practice

2. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to MJASOC undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure objective and rigorous evaluation. Submissions are reviewed by at least two independent experts, based on the following criteria:

  • Scientific validity and methodological rigor

  • Clinical relevance and innovation

  • Originality and contribution to the field

  • Surgical applicability and patient impact

  • Clarity and structure of writing

If reviewer opinions conflict, a third expert or senior editor may be consulted. Authors are expected to revise manuscripts according to reviewer feedback. Final publication decisions rest with the editorial board, which ensures that the process remains fair, timely, and confidential.

3. Authorship & Contributions

MJASOC adheres to the ICMJE authorship criteria. All authors must have made meaningful contributions in one or more of the following areas:

  • Study conception or surgical technique design

  • Data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation

  • Manuscript drafting or critical revision

  • Final approval of the published version

  • Accountability for the integrity of the entire work

Author contributions must be clearly stated at submission. Guest, honorary, or ghost authorship is not permitted.

4. Ethical Standards

MJASOC upholds the ethical guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). All submissions must comply with:

  • Institutional ethical approval for human and animal studies

  • Informed patient consent for identifiable data or images

  • Full disclosure of conflicts of interest

  • No plagiarism, data manipulation, or redundant publication

Suspected breaches of ethics will prompt investigation and may lead to retraction or institutional notification.

5. Open Access Policy

MJASOC is a fully open access journal, offering free and permanent access to its content. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), allowing distribution and reuse with proper citation.

6. Data Transparency & Availability

Authors are encouraged to include data availability statements and share relevant datasets that support their findings. Exceptions are made for patient confidentiality or legal constraints. Data transparency enhances reproducibility and scientific trust.

7. Corrections, Retractions & Expressions of Concern

MJASOC is committed to maintaining a transparent and accurate scholarly record. The journal will issue:

  • Corrections for factual errors that do not alter conclusions

  • Retractions for serious ethical or data violations

  • Expressions of Concern when unresolved issues are under investigation

All such actions will be clearly marked and linked to the original article.

8. Editorial Independence

MJASOC maintains full editorial independence, free from commercial, institutional, or sponsor influence. Editors and reviewers are selected for their expertise, impartiality, and scientific integrity. The journal does not accept advertising or sponsorship that may compromise editorial decisions.

9. Appeals & Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a detailed rationale. Appeals are reviewed by a senior editorial committee. Ethical concerns or complaints should be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief and will be handled confidentially and according to COPE best practices.

10. Indexing and Archiving

MJASOC is in active pursuit of indexing in leading scholarly databases, including:

  • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)

  • Scopus

  • PubMed Central

All published content is digitally archived to ensure long-term access and citation integrity.
