At the Mogito Open Access Journal of Genetics & Genomic Research (MJGGR), we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of editorial integrity, scientific quality, and ethical transparency in the publication of research. Our editorial policies are designed to promote rigorous peer review, inclusive authorship, responsible conduct of research, and equitable access to knowledge in the fields of genetics and genomics.

1. Editorial Independence

The editorial decisions at MJGGR are made independently of external influences, including funding sources, sponsors, or institutional affiliations. The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board are fully responsible for the content published in the journal and act according to the journal’s mission, scientific merit, and ethical standards.

2. Peer Review Policy

MJGGR adheres to a double-blind peer review process, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. All submissions undergo:

  • Initial screening by the editorial team for scope and quality

  • Assignment to two or more qualified independent reviewers

  • Critical evaluation based on scientific rigor, originality, relevance, and clarity

  • Editorial decision (accept, revise, or reject) based on reviewers' feedback and editorial discretion

Review turnaround time: Typically 2–4 weeks
Appeals: Authors may appeal editorial decisions with a written justification to the editorial office.

3. Manuscript Selection Criteria

Manuscripts are selected for publication based on:

  • Scientific novelty and significance

  • Methodological rigor and clarity

  • Ethical compliance and transparency

  • Relevance to the field of genetics and genomics

  • Contribution to global scientific knowledge

MJGGR encourages both hypothesis-driven and discovery-based research and welcomes interdisciplinary studies that bridge genetics with other life sciences and data science.

4. Editorial Board Responsibilities

Editorial Board Members are selected based on their scientific expertise, publication record, and commitment to the journal’s mission. Their responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the peer review process

  • Ensuring editorial objectivity and confidentiality

  • Recommending special issues or emerging topics

  • Promoting the journal within their professional networks

  • Upholding the journal’s code of ethics and quality standards

5. Author Responsibilities

Authors submitting to MJGGR must:

  • Submit original, unpublished work not under consideration elsewhere

  • Accurately represent data and methods used in the research

  • Provide proper citations and credit to prior work

  • Disclose all conflicts of interest and funding sources

  • Ensure all listed authors have approved the final manuscript

  • Comply with ethical standards for human and animal research

  • Deposit genomic data in appropriate public databases (e.g., GenBank, GEO, ENA) when applicable

6. Ethics and Misconduct

MJGGR follows the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal does not tolerate:

  • Plagiarism

  • Data fabrication or falsification

  • Redundant publication

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

  • Ghost authorship or guest authorship

All allegations of misconduct will be investigated thoroughly and may result in retraction, correction, or reporting to the author’s institution.

7. Open Access and Copyright

MJGGR operates under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Authors retain copyright of their published work.

8. Data Availability and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to make data, software, and protocols openly available whenever possible to support reproducibility and transparency. Genomic datasets should be deposited in internationally recognized repositories with accession numbers provided in the manuscript.

9. Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Notes

MJGGR maintains a transparent corrections policy. The journal may issue:

  • Corrigenda for author errors

  • Errata for publisher errors

  • Retractions in cases of proven scientific misconduct

  • Editorial Expressions of Concern when validity is under question pending investigation

All corrections are clearly labeled and linked to the original article.
