Mogito Open Access Journals of Plant Biology & Agricultural Biotechnology (MJPBAB) Publication Ethics
Mogito Open Access Journal of Plant Biology & Agricultural Biotechnology (MJPBAB) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. As part of the Mogito Open Access platform, we ensure that all stakeholders — authors, editors, reviewers, and readers — engage in ethical research and publication practices that foster trust, transparency, and scientific excellence.
Our publication ethics policy aligns with the principles and best practices set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors submitting to MJPBAB must adhere to the following ethical guidelines:
Originality & Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be original and not previously published or under review elsewhere. All sources must be properly cited. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, will result in immediate rejection or retraction.
Authorship Criteria: Authorship should be limited to individuals who made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All contributors should be properly acknowledged.
Data Transparency: Authors must present accurate data and be willing to provide raw data if requested during peer review. Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data is considered unethical.
Conflicts of Interest: Authors are required to disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their research. Transparency is essential to maintaining scientific credibility.
Ethical Compliance: Studies involving plants, animals, or genetic material must comply with institutional, national, and international guidelines. Appropriate approvals and licenses must be obtained and clearly stated.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors at MJPBAB are responsible for ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and integrity throughout the editorial process:
Fair Evaluation: Submissions are evaluated solely on scientific merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope, regardless of the authors’ gender, ethnicity, institutional affiliation, or nationality.
Confidentiality: Editors must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and must not disclose information to anyone other than the editorial team, reviewers, and publisher.
Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest and assign a neutral editorial representative.
Editorial Integrity: Editors are responsible for investigating and addressing ethical concerns raised during or after publication, including issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Peer reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of published work:
Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and not shared or discussed with others.
Constructive Feedback: Reviewers are expected to provide objective, respectful, and constructive feedback that helps improve the quality of the manuscript.
Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and decline to review if there is a potential for bias.
Timeliness: Reviewers should complete evaluations promptly and inform the editors if a delay is unavoidable.
Misconduct & Corrections
MJPBAB takes all allegations of misconduct seriously, including plagiarism, data falsification, redundant publication, and unethical experimentation. When misconduct is confirmed:
Before publication: The manuscript may be rejected or returned for revision.
After publication: The journal may issue a correction, retraction, or editorial note as appropriate.
We are committed to working with authors and institutions to resolve ethical issues in a fair and transparent manner.
Appeals & Complaints
Authors who disagree with editorial decisions or wish to raise concerns about ethical breaches may submit formal appeals or complaints to the editorial office. All submissions will be reviewed by an independent ethics committee to ensure impartial resolution.
