Mogito Open Access Journals of Marine Biology & Aquatic Research (MJMBAR) Editorial Policy

The Mogito Open Access Journal of Marine Biology & Aquatic Research (MJMBAR) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of editorial integrity, transparency, and academic excellence. Our editorial policies are shaped by international best practices and ethical guidelines, ensuring that the publication process is rigorous, unbiased, and inclusive.

MJMBAR provides a trusted platform for disseminating high-quality research in marine biology and aquatic sciences, while promoting open access to scientific knowledge across the global research community.

1. Editorial Objectives

Our editorial policy is guided by the following core principles:

  • Scientific Rigor: We uphold stringent quality standards for all submissions through expert peer review.

  • Fairness & Transparency: All editorial decisions are made objectively and free from commercial or personal bias.

  • Timely Communication: Authors receive timely and constructive feedback during the review and publication process.

  • Open Access Dissemination: We support unrestricted access to all published content under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

2. Editorial Board Responsibilities

The MJMBAR Editorial Board comprises a global network of subject-matter experts in marine biology, aquatic ecology, oceanography, and related disciplines. The responsibilities of the editorial board include:

  • Overseeing the peer review process to ensure fairness, confidentiality, and academic rigor

  • Advising on journal scope, direction, and special issues

  • Promoting scientific integrity by addressing ethical concerns and publication misconduct

  • Engaging with the research community to attract diverse and impactful contributions

3. Peer Review Policy

MJMBAR employs a double-blind peer review process to ensure that neither authors nor reviewers are aware of each other’s identities. Key features include:

  • All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening for scope, format, and ethics compliance.

  • Submissions are then reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field.

  • Reviewers are selected based on their subject expertise, impartiality, and ability to provide detailed, constructive feedback.

  • Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer comments before a final editorial decision is made.

Editorial decisions may include: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.

4. Conflict of Interest

To maintain transparency and trust in the editorial process:

  • Editors and reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when appropriate.

  • Authors must declare any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence their research findings.

  • Any conflict of interest will be handled in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

5. Editorial Independence

MJMBAR guarantees the independence of editorial decisions from the journal's owners, sponsors, or advertisers. Content is accepted or rejected purely on scientific merit, relevance, and quality—free from external influence.

6. Corrections, Retractions & Editorial Notes

MJMBAR is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record. If errors or ethical breaches are identified post-publication, the following actions may be taken:

  • Corrections: For honest errors that do not alter the overall findings of the work

  • Retractions: For serious issues such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication

  • Editorial Expressions of Concern: Issued when an investigation is ongoing or inconclusive

All post-publication changes will be clearly noted on the article’s landing page and indexed accordingly.

7. Handling Misconduct

Suspected cases of misconduct—such as plagiarism, manipulation, falsified data, or unethical experimentation—are investigated by the editorial office in line with COPE’s flowcharts and recommendations. Confirmed misconduct will result in rejection, retraction, or formal reporting to relevant authorities.

8. Author Appeals

Authors who disagree with editorial decisions may file a written appeal to the Editor-in-Chief. Appeals must clearly address the specific concerns raised by reviewers or editors. All appeals are reviewed by a senior editorial panel not involved in the original decision.

9. Diversity & Inclusion

MJMBAR is committed to supporting inclusive scholarly communication. We actively encourage submissions from researchers across geographic regions, genders, career stages, and underrepresented groups in marine science. Editorial appointments and peer reviewer selections reflect this commitment.
